Main Street Players present Leading Ladies

Leading Ladies is a farce by Ken Ludwig. Set in the 1950’s, it focuses on two down-on-their luck Shakespearean actors, Jack Clark and Leo Gable reduced to performing at Moose Lodges in the Amish countryside of Pennsylvania.  While reading a newspaper, the pair discover that an older, ailing woman named Florence Snider is about to die and leave her fortune to her two sister’s children, Max and Steve who moved away to England at a young age. The actors resolve to pass themselves off as her beloved relatives and get the cash. Hilarity ensues when it turns out the relatives are actually nieces and not nephews. Things get even more complicated when Leo falls madly in love with the old lady's vivacious niece, Meg, who's engaged to the local minister.

Leading Ladies is the third show in Main Street Player’s 23-24 season. It is written by Ken Ludwig and features Chris Gansel and Cameron Adams as the two miscalculating Shakespearean thespians Leo Clark and Jack Gable. Other players include Jill Shedd (Meg Snider), Alexandra Childers (Audrey), Isaac Melton (Rev. Duncan Wooley), Joshua Parrott (Doctor Meyers), Jill Coleman (Florence Snider) and Will Pitts (Butch Myers). The production is directed by BJ Hughes, who is also the resident scenic designer for Main Street. Master carpenter, Frank Dansby assists with the set construction. Norma Richardson (Artistic Director) provides costume design and lighting design and production are by Nate Barnes. Keith Potter serves as stage manager and is assisted by Janice Aiken.

If you are looking for an evening of laughter then Leading Ladies is the show for you. It runs Wednesday, February 14 through Sunday, February 25, 2024. Wednesday-Saturday performances are at 7:30 PM, with Sunday matinee performances at 3:00 PM.
