Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps

Main Street Players closes its season with John Buchan’s The 39 Steps. If you don’t know the play it is a wild laugh-a-minute adaptation of the classic Alfred Hitchcock film noir mystery of the same name. Every thrilling and suspenseful moment you associate with Hitchcock is represented in this fast paced farce. Four actors bring all the characters from the movie to life. Sometimes two or three at a time. 

 The familiar faces of Chris Gansel, Heather Shepherd, Isaac Melton and Brad Jester will play all the 100 plus roles in the production. BJ Hughes, resident scenic designer and director for the show, invites us to come and see how the Main Street stage will be transformed into an English Music Hall in 1935, “Where scenery and locations flow in and out like good cinema.” Franky Dansby serves as head carpenter and Norma Richardson, MSP Artistic and Managing Director, will face the arduous task of costuming the performers in their multiple roles. Ashley Barnes, Associate Artistic Director of Griffin Ballet Theatre, will assit with those quick changes. Nate Barnes will design and execute the lighting and Scott Welborn will execute the sound. Catherine Jones serves as stage manager and Janice Aiken as production assistant.
