The Griffin+Spalding Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting applications for the Leadership Griffin+Spalding Class of 2023.  The class is limited to 25 participants.

Leadership Griffin+Spalding’s mission is to develop emerging community leaders through professional and interpersonal skill development mentoring and community networking.

Leadership Griffin+Spalding, sponsored by the Griffin+Spalding Chamber of Commerce, provides existing and emerging leaders with opportunities to enhance their civic knowledge, hone their leadership skills and network with leaders across the community.  For many years the program has provided participants a better understanding of how our community works, build relationships with the region’s leaders and be inspired to use their talents to serve the community.

In the eight month program participants will gain:

  • An in-depth view of community issues

  • Personal leadership skills awareness and development

  • Access to opportunities for community involvement

  • Opportunities to discuss key issues with community leaders

The eight sessions will be held between September and May, generally the first or second Friday of the month, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Local, regional and state leaders will share their knowledge and perspectives through presentations, interactive sessions, role plays, panel discussions and hands-on activities.  Class formats will demonstrate real situations, challenges and opportunities in our community, and participants will gain first-hand experience through behind-the-scenes tours of various public and private facilities.  Using the UGA Fanning Institute’s Leadership Curriculum, participants will enhance their personal leadership skills.

Attendance requirements reflect the commitment necessary to receive a meaningful experience from investment in the Leadership Griffin+Spalding program.  Participants and their employers must be willing to commit the necessary time to fully participate in the program.  To graduate, a participant may not miss more than two class sessions and must complete additional enrichment activities to make up any missed time.

The Leadership Griffin+Spalding program is open to anyone interested.  The application process is governed by Leadership Griffin+Spalding advisory board.  A panel of the board reviews all applications received and determines applicant’s entry.  The following criteria are considered:

demonstrated leadership abilities, community interest and involvement, desire to assume expanded leadership responsibility, class representation of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
